Over the past week the sound of Chain Saws has been ringing around Barrington Court.
some 40 Horse Chestnut Trees have been taken down due to Disease.
I just kept making cups of Coffee and standing outside watching the workmen.
This is the tree outside my workshop.
This is the tree outside my workshop.
and this was my first sight on Thursday morning.
I was beginning to get to know the wild life living in the tree, the six squirrels that play around in the morning, the crows in the afternoon and the small owl at dusk.

Oh my god! Poor trees. That's very sad.
Sad to see something so tall and strong need to be cut down. In Alaska be had Spruce Bark Beetles ravage entire mountainsides of forests -it was so strange to see a wave of dying crispy brown trees where deep forest greens should have been. Slowly, things are recovering and there has been a LOT of Beetle killed firewood for folks.
well that would be a shock arriving to that sight..do you get to plant new ones??
That's a shame, Paul. Is there at least some good use for the timber?
