New old Ideas ?

Another new kiln load of pots today.
and for once I'm very pleased with them.
Weight, balance, colour and form are starting to hit the spot for me.
which is good news for me but maybe not so good for the customers
in as much as these newer better pots can command a higher price.
To me this black jug has " Michael Cardew" written all over it.
It's not a copy or anything but a feeling you get when you look at it and feel it.
He was one of my heroes after all.
I've made one of these jugs with the inscription
when autumn leaves begin to fall I love you most of all.
I've started making some small individual pie baking dishes.
One with small lugs
but I think they are better plain.
This new bowl is an old idea I started making two years ago
in my gas kiln, but the first 3 firings were very poor
so this is one that is actually good enough to sell.

This is a good feeling,
I was thinking to myself yesterday that Life isn't going to be long enough
for me to make all the pots I want to make.
So I better get on with it.
Then I got on the phone and ordered another Tonne of Clay.

So good to hear you feeling this way! What a great quote about not living long enough to make all the pots you want to. I'll have to remember that one!

I know that thought and have even said it myself-
the pottery looks great!

It's good to feel good!! And it's a reassuring thought not to be able to make al the pots you want in one lifetime. Takes away a lot of pressure... :-)

It is extremely interesting for me to read the article. Thank you for it. I like such topics and everything that is connected to them. I would like to read more soon.
