For some time now I have been wondering if the blog
is still entertaining people and giving an insight
into what goes into setting up a pottery workshop
and then how much hard work goes into making a success
at it.
I realise that this year seems to have got off to a flier
and every now and again I feel as if I've run out of steam,
and it's at this point the blog suffers.
I love doing the blog and it's been a great help over the past four years
and 555 posts.
But just now Facebook is quicker and easier
and if I'm honest gets more comments.
So if you want a quicker more convenient way of keeping up with
whats happening at the workshop
you should follow this link to our
Barrington Pottery Facebook page.
If you have visited us and made a figure for the Field for Somerset
you can post your picture to our Facebook page
and we would love to see them.
Technology seems to be moving on at such a great pace, and to be honest
neither of us are great with it, we just give it our best shot.
This is what we love to do with our spare time
go for a walk with Cadbury.
I've walked past this tree hundreds of times
but today I had my camera.
Here are some of the Figures for the Field for Somerset
set in place.
Let me know what you think about Blogs v Facebook
on either format.
I'm obvoiusly Tired at the moment because this reads as a bit of a negative
which wasn't my intention,
I just wanted to let people know where to find our facebook page.
and we have Blue sky's this morning
now that's something to smile about.

I find your blog entertaining and informative. I hope you will continue as I don't do Facebook. I am told that it's more immediate, but what little I've seen it does not appear to have the depth of a blog.
Love all those little figures.....repetition/variation gives them a mystery beyond words.
Do you have people making and posting them?
Don't leave the blog yet! I do both but come to read blogs while I skim FB.
Thought facebook is good, a blog is a better way for people to find you via google, it just reinforces your web presence along with your website.
If you feel like you are duplicating what you are posting on facebook then maybe it is time to consider what the blog is for and doing different posts that.
I am uncertain as to what I want to do with my blog, I don't use it much at the moment, I seem to spend most of my time using instagram.
Don't know if you read my post blog vs. facebook last week, but, yes I read your blog, nay on Facebook, I don't do fb so if you give up the blog I will have no idea what wonderful things you are up to!
I love blogs. In my communication FB is for quickie notes, and doesn't provide the in-depth things I find on blogs. There are some selection criteria that FB automatically uses and I have no control over (probably based on how many other people are making comments for that person...nothing to do with me.) So you all can find me on my blog still. I don't have to accept you as a friend, or ask to be your friend...we just are available to everyone.
I read both - and prefer blogs for the type if content that they are used for. FB is more immediate for liking, sharing, comments, and sharing photos. The blog world would be wise to rethink their formats.

Skim FB. But that helps me see new posts from my blogging buddies (if they are linked) so I hop on over and read the latest post. I think they both serve their own purpose. Keep bloggin'! :)
Hey Paul, I like your blog and I'll keep reading it when you post. Sometimes I have to catch up. I like FB too and look for you there. It's hard. I think Diane makes a good point that blogs could have some sort of different format. A Like button, or easier ways to comment, some are difficult (not Blogger really).
I am rethinking what the purpose of my blog is. Well, anyhow....that's all I got. Would love to see you and Marion in person sometime in the future.
I always read and enjoy your blog. I hope you won't abandon it all together.
Thanks for your comments, I have no intention of stopping the blog. I love doing it, all I wanted to say really was that, for quicker more instant stuff look on the Facebook page. But I will always try to entertain on the blog, it's a big part of my Potting Life.
Your comments over the years have picked me up on a number of occassions.
There are some blogs I read on a regular basis, but I don't seem able to leave comments for some reason, Hatchville pottery being one of them, I keep trying Hollis but I'm not sure why it won't accept my comments, they are clean honest.
Glad that the blog will continue Paul, it has been great to drop by to over the years, and like a number of the others that left comments here... I don't do Facebook either!
Don't know why the blog won't take your comments, Paul. I haven't banned you. You're one of my favorites. I understand the pull of Facebook, but I can't say that I find the depth in it that I find on people's blogs. And on FB you're dumped in with everyone else who's new baby just learned to pee on the toilet. So ... I hope you keep doing the blog. I love it and feel I've gotten to know Barrington Court way better than I would on FB. I completely agree with Tracey on this one.
Well, yes I agree that there isn't the depth on Facebook that there is on the blog. Have learned much from your posts. I hope you'll continue with the blog. Please don't give it up! I am also on Facebook but have decided to keep my pottery blog as the primary way of communicating.
I like both, the blog for the depth, facebook for the speed and brevity. I have found with my blog that when I comment on other peoples blogs I get more comments, especially when I'm returning the favor of a comment on my blog. It's a bit of work but it does help to build the community.
I am enjoying the everyday story of country folk, and your view of it.I want to visit to see for my self and will in August. Both ways of comminication are good the blog is a fantastic way of painting a big picture, facebook is good at squirting off a few lines.
