Just another Saturday Night in Barrington!

OK , I know this is supposed to be a blog about my pottery
and there is some going on I assure you.
But here are some pictures of us enjoying ourselves in the Local Pub
on a Saturday Night.
Marion before we went out.
This picture was emailed to me this morning.
This is left to right Martin, Richard & Myself.

Here are the current Landlords Tony & Graham They have turned this pub around
like you would not believe possible. we now have Beer, Food, and
most welcome a nice log fire.
Thanks Guys for all of your hard work.
This is Martin and me early on in the evening.

and a bit of spooky food.

These are our Friends Martin & Wendy.
We have some Fantastic friends in the Village and we love living here.

The lady in the gorilla mask is our neighbour Pat.

and Charlie in full flight.

and here is Pat's Husband Ian
giving it some welly on the dance floor,
he's a very sprightly 69.
and this was how my head felt at the end of the night.

Plenty of pots being made at the moment,
so the blog will revert back to pot making next week.
It's been a tough Month and it was great to have the opportunity to
let our hair down a bit.
November is all about making pots and my Girls Birthday's of course.

Poorly Potter, But to Busy to be able to stop.

Most of the pots coming out of the kiln at the moment are orders
so My shelves in the showroom are looking a little bleak at the moment.
This is one of the new additions to the range.
Inspired in part by both Michael Cardew and Doug Fitch.

I went down with a bad head cold on Friday, but I haven't been able to rest at all
in stead it's been very full on.
I did the local produce market on the Saturday Morning,
Followed by Apple Day at the Court in the afternoon.
a dinner party with friends on the Saturday night.

I had to load a biscuit firing on the Sunday.
Followed by another meeting of friends in the pub Sunday evening,
Then full on with 3 taster sessions on the Monday morning
Followed by another Four in the afternoon.
That was followd by my Evening class.

Then Tuesday morning another group of four taster sessions
Followed by glazing and loading another kiln load of pots with deadlines to meet.
and now a slight rest bite before my Evening class again.

The weather has been up and down all week.
So just my ladies for the evening class tonight.
And then on Wednesday I am going to crawl into my little hole
and do absolutely nothing for a change.

A Bizarre Week with a sad note ends with a sore head.

This must go down as one of the most Bizarre weeks of my life.
On a sad note the day before we were due to fly off to Spain,
Marion's Mum, Maria passed away.
She was 83 and in a nursing home.
We were going to stay at home, but Marion's family insisted we go
on our holiday because they knew how hard we had been working this year.
So firstly, Thank you to the Family.
We had a wonderful week with our Friends Wendy and Martin.

Luckily for readers of this blog I resisted the temptation to bath in the
healing mud's of Pilar.

we went to some beautiful places.

and even found some pots to take pictures of.
These were being used to catch shell fish in La manga.

Then when we got back we had the Funeral on the Friday
which was a sad and somber affair.
But had been very well organised by Marion's Brother and sister.
so Thank you very much for that.

Then on the Saturday evening we had Franki's 40th Birthday Party
which was Fancy dress theme the 80's.

This is Franki and her husband Lee
Lee took 4 hours to get ready and shaved his head for the role

Luckily Marion and Me were a bit more reserved in our outfits.
The Bat man sat next to me is Marion's son Nathan.

This was the best Fancy dress party we have ever been to.
Some of the costumes were just amazing.

This was what it was all about.

I'm not sure if this craze travelled the world, but if you went to a disco
in the 80's and they played
"Opps upside your head"
or alternatively called the rowing song. then this was the dance.

Nice to see Marion's Brother Mark enjoying a well earned pint
of beer,
"but surely that should have been Banana juice Mark?"

The disco was a mass of 80's
( well I'm not quite sure what you would call it )

These Rubik's Cubes were brilliant.

and here you have a chance to meet the family
from left to right
Taz, Tasha, ( Marion's daughter ) Marion centre, Louise and Nathan.( Marion's son ).
so sore heads all round today.
So this morning I went to download the pics onto the computer
and found I had left the cable at the workshop.
So still in my Pyjamas I jumped in Marion's car and shot down to the workshop,
when I pulled up around the corner at the back of the workshop
there were 30 people stood there.
So I slowly reversed back before they could notice
I was still in My PJ's.
and I'm in no fit state to start making pots today.
The week has been a roller coaster of emotions.
And to end it all as I'm writing this blog a chap came in the workshop
and offered me a home made chocolate.
I popped it in my mouth and bit into it
it was Marzipan and Ginger
Two of the things I hate the most in the world.
Urgghh!!!!

Saturday 16 October 2010

Back to the grind stone.

It's Saturday and It's My first full day back at work.
The Holiday we just had was very full on
with no time spare to sit and reflect on the Pottery and the future
which is what I would normally do.
So it feels very strange trying to get back in the groove.
It's a Beautiful sunny morning here and I took Cadbury for a walk.

and these are the sights and sounds that I am more used to,
The blue sky is beautiful but the temperature is just 10oc.

We go through this gate most days as caddy can't make it over the cattle grid
Neither can I come to think of it.
But this little chap has been far more industrious than me so far today.
So Caddy and Me are in the workshop now
with some glazing to do to get us back in the groove.
New pots will be out of the kiln on Monday, and hopefully
having the kiln on will warm up the workshop.
Cor Blimey it's Cold!

A well deserved Holiday in the Sun

Hello We are Back.

If you have been wondering where we had got to
we were taking a well deserved Holiday in the Sun.

Here are our good friends Wendy & Martin,
they live in Barrington but also own a Villa is Spain near Murcia.
And we went on Holiday with them for a week.

I think this was in Pilar

We had a ball, eating, drinking, sight seeing, sleeping,
and on at least one Occasion, hitting the stage in a bar doing Karaoke.
Apparently my rendition of song 2 by Blur
was a masterpiece of invention, never to be repeated.
This is the Villa Wendy & Martin Own.

it was a fantastic base for a fun filled week of Fun and Laughter.
 This is the roof garden
In total I took over 100 pictures so these are a selective few.

 We found some gems.
I'll put more Pictures up over the next few days.
But it was so nice to spend some time in the sun without having to think about pottery.
and I'm hoping it will have a good effect when I finally get back into it next week.

Another Day Another Dollar

Following on from a misty morning
this is a damp evening with the sun trying to break through.
you can just make out the workshop on the left hand side.
Whilst in the workshop yesterday I heard an air raid siren.
I looked out the back of the workshop and saw this fantastic Jeep.

Yes that is an Hand Grenade on the dash board.

It's an absolute classic and belongs to Tim and Wendy
Wendy is one of my evening class ladies.

These are the pots I started to pack up in a box for the exhibition of Clay n Blogs
in North Carolina.
But I was unable to fit them all in so the half pint tankard
didn't make it into the box.
