New Pots in the showroom at Barrington Pottery.

Two Blogs in one week
What's going on?
We have new pots out of the kiln on a Monday morning
the sun is shining, I'm on top of most of my orders
The Barrington Boar Wine coolers are next on the list!
Honest.

But first we have this new large dish fresh from the kiln
it's 16.5" wide and is not our normal style.
Thrown by me and decorated by Marion.

This water jug is a new design, inspired by some mugs I made
for our neighbor Pat.

This large Cassoulet dish is 13.5" wide
and will me great for family meals.
We also have one of our Live Simply bowls.
a range of baking or serving dishes priced at only £20 each.

These are one of my favorite Jugs to make and decorate.
This is a nice Jug made for an order.
With names for a wedding on the front and these doves on the back.
We also have new work by Malcolm Shepherd in the showroom.
Malcolm's work proved very popular the last time we had
it in the workshop.
and if you prefer your pottery
fired a little higher
we have some new work by Andrew Douglas
in the showroom.

So we have lots of choice, so now's the time to pay us a visit.
and don't forget
Play with clay!

Busy @Barrington Pottery Summer 2013

With the holiday season in full swing
we are finding that we are getting more visitors in the showroom
This has an obvious up side in increased sales
but the down side means I'm spending
more time talking to customers
and less time making.
This knock on effect is proving to be good for us
in a number of ways.
If we are ever going to be able to buy a bigger kiln
we need to start saving money. So less pots made in the day
means the only way to keep up is to start working in the evenings
even more often than I usually do.

This has the double effect of catching up on a days lost production
and keeping us out of the pub!
So we get to save some money and I've started to
finally lose a bit of weight
( still a long way to go).
The new school Room has been buzzing every day
with Marion's Play with Clay
On every day in the Summer holiday's
(Except Wednesday's)
from 11am - 4pm
only £2.00 per prson
Marion is letting the kids make what ever they want!
This is a Minefield
and so is This !!
This was how I got started
I used to love just messing around with mud and water
as a kid.
So The stock levels are keeping up at the moment.
and I've made another large bowl
that is in the kiln now
Out Monday !
I've been down to one kiln for a few weeks while I ordered
a new set of elements for the bottom half
of my number one kiln.
I fitted them myself and I'm chuffed at the fact that I think i've
done a very neat job this time, thanks to
a bit of advice from the technical guys
at Potterycrafts.

Back firing on all Cylinders.

5 Years on and not a pot in sight.

Today marks 5 years since Marion & I
 were made redundant!
Yesterday was the day My Balloon ride
that Marion bought as a 50th Birthday present
finally took off
I'm 51 now!
Having inspected the basket I was apprehensive but excited.

These Balloons are Huge!

I helped as much as I was allowed with setting it up.

I was right next to the pilot, well you can't really
be anywhere else in one of these baskets.

This is looking up at the top of the conopy.
I absolutely loved it the views were fantastic, and I just loved
looking down at the fields, with all the detail
you can't see from the ground
 The sun came out
we went up to just under 5000 feet
and the sun was setting as we looked for a suitable landing site.
we were able to watch deer running in fields.
This is a close up of a wheat field from above
it looked like a giant woolen jumper.
we had a perfect landing in a field
what a great way to end the day.
so How do we top that next Year.

Well next year on the 8th August 2014
We get Married !
I can't wait.
